Neuopathic Pain Workshop

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is developing guidance on neuropathic pain and recently held a workshop to help determine the scope of the guidance. Pain Concern sent a representative to contribute to discussions. The wide variety of causes, the severity of the symptoms and the large range of medicines available all underline the need for guidance. There are currently no evidence-based guidelines available for non-specialist doctors using drugs to manage neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain is commonly managed by GPs and so the development of guidance to best practice is very important.

The guidance is due to be published in March and we will include a link to the site at that time.
