Hydrotherapy

Liz MacLeod describes my sort of pain exactly. I’ve tried to explain it to people myself with various degrees of success, and it is comforting to see someone like Liz MacLeod describe it (i.e., it is not just me!).

Thank you for Pain Matters magazine. It’s always interesting, very readable and useful. It has inspired me to get on a pain management course. Currently I am in the preliminary stages, but without the magazine, I wouldn’t have got this far! I see references to hydrotherapy in the magazine from time to time. Are there any exercises or useful tips that could be adapted to an ordinary swimming pool, no special equipment, but with keen and helpful staff?

Q.J. Owen

You will find loads of exercises and inspiration in the new edition of Hydrorobics: Water Exercise Programme by J. Krasevec and D. Grimes, published by Human Kinetics, 2nd ed., £12.95, ISBN 088 011 2662.
See Coping with Pain section for Liz MacLeod's articles.
